Free agent shooting guard Nick Young had a little bit too much fun with fireworks on the 4th of July, nearly blowing his right hand off on camera.

On 4th of July 2015, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul mangled his right hand in a fireworks accident. He now has to play with a club on his hand for the rest of his NFL career. Pierre-Paul is now an advocate for fireworks safety and one particular NBA player, former Los Angeles Lakers sixth man Nick Young clearly wasn’t listening.

On 4th of July 2016, newly single Young was celebrating with friends on Independence Day. A friend of his goes and lights the fuse to an explosive. Seconds later, Young goes over shirtless and grabs the firework launcher with explosive light and tries to imitate the Statue of Liberty.

Everybody that was in the parking couldn’t believe what Young was doing. When the firework ultimately went off, people thought the NBA veteran blew his hand off. Young came out of the explosion unscathed.

For a guy that doesn’t want to get his right arm tattooed because “it’s strictly for buckets”, Young showed a tremendous lack of judgement with regards to fireworks on the 4th of July. He is still a free agent and this video isn’t going to help the goofy 30-year-old NBA veteran land a new gig anytime soon. Young almost blew his hand off!
