A look at when the International Champions Cup will begin in the U.S.

Every summer, some of the top European soccer teams head to the United States for the annual International Champions Cup and compete with some of the 10 best clubs from around Europe.

The same is happening this summer. The International Champions Cup has been featured in North America since 2013 and has top clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, A.C Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and many others travel all the way here to compete in a mini tournament of four games, with the team with the most points being crowned champion.

Last year, PSG took the honors and edged out MLS club New York Red Bulls. In 2014, Manchester United were crowned champions over Liverpool and Real Madrid were the inaugural winners ahead of Chelsea.

The competition will be split between games in the U.S and Europe. Scottish club Celtic and Spanish club Barcelona are the only teams that will not make the trip to the North America. This year there will be three English teams (Leicester City, Chelsea and Liverpool), two Italian clubs (A.C. Milan and Inter Milan), and one French (PSG), German (Bayern Munich) and Spanish (Real Madrid) club participating in the fourth year of the International Champions Cup.

The competition this year will begin on July 24th in a match between Inter Milan and the reigning French champions PSG in Eugene, Oregon at the Autzen Stadium, home of the University of Oregon.

It will be very interesting to see the reigning English Premier League Champions Leicester City in the flesh, as they look to retain their spot as king of English soccer. Also, the reigning Champions League winners Real Madrid will always be fun to watch.

Whenever these teams make the trip to North America, it is a great chance for them to use their younger players and veterans who wont get much playing time next season. That might not be what some fans want, as they want to see superstars like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney and so on. However, if you decide to make it to a game, you might be able to see one of those star players make a brief appearance. Ronaldo lead the competition in scoring in 2013 with three goals, Ibrahimovic and Luis Suarez were joint leaders last year, so you never know if a team will actually deploy their star players for their fans.
