Identifying the top high salary and value first baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 6 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Wil Myers, Padres (5,600): Myers, who was named to his first All-Star team on Tuesday, is very expensive. In fact, he’s the highest-priced batter on the board on Wednesday’s slate. That could help keep his ownership percentage low, however, which makes him an intriguing option. Myers has a great matchup against Shelby Miller (2-8, 6.85 ERA) at Chase Field, where he’s hitting .316 this season.
Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks (5,000): If you want to pivot off Myers and save a little cap space in the process, Goldschmidt is a great alternative. He’s hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, with 13 RBIs over that same stretch. He’s never faced Colin Rea (5-3, 4.79 ERA), but he’s hitting .364 against the San Diego Padres this season.
High Value
Jose Abreu, White Sox (3,400): After consecutive 30-home run seasons to open his MLB career, Abreu is barely on pace for 20 in his third season. Despite the power outage, he’s still been a reliable source of RBIs (50). Abreu is 0-for-3 in his career against New York Yankees righty Michael Pineda (3-7, 5.24 ERA), but at such a low price, Abreu is worth a flyer.
Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals (3,300): Zimmerman has just one hit since the calendar flipped over to July, but he should be happy to see Milwaukee Brewers veteran right-hander Matt Garza (1-1, 3.74 ERA) on the mound Wednesday. Zimmerman is 6-for-16 with a double and three RBIs in his career against Garza. He’s worth a look on Wednesday.
