Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 6 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Jose Altuve, Astros (5,300): Altuve is a valid play every single night. He’s one of baseball’s best talents and is, more or less, matchup-proof. His .352 average leads the majors, while his 14 home runs and 49 RBIs rank second and third on the team, respectively. What sets Altuve apart is his 22 stolen bases (tied for third in MLB). Altuve stands out as a strong play Wednesday against Seattle Mariners lefty Wade LeBlanc (1-0, 1.50 ERA).
Jean Segura, Diamondbacks (4,800): Segura’s first season in Arizona has been nothing short of brilliant. He leads the team (and ranks seventh in the National League) with a .318 average. Only four players in the majors have more than his 108 hits. Segura is a fine play Wednesday at home, where he’s hitting .328 this season, against San Diego Padres righty Colin Rea (5-3, 4.79 ERA).
High Value
Starlin Castro, Yankees (3,200): Castro has dominated the Chicago White Sox through the first two games of the series, going a combined 6-for-9 with a pair of doubles. Look for him to stay hot on Wednesday against veteran right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (1-4, 4.88 ERA), against whom he is 1-for-3 in his career.
DJ LeMahieu, Rockies (3,200): LeMahieu is best viewed as a GPP-only candidate for a few reasons. First, he’s on the road at San Francisco and not at home in the friendly confines of Coors Field. Second, he’s facing Johnny Cueto (12-1, 2.57 ERA). But it’s worth noting that LeMahieu is 6-for-20 in his career against Cueto. There’s some upside to this matchup.
