DraftKings Early MLB Picks For July 7

There are only four late games on Independence Day, which makes this the smaller tournament of the day. There are a few good options. Let’s find out what the past stats say!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Best Bet:

Tyler Glasnow ($7,000): Glasnow is making his major league debut, so we have nothing to go on here, aside from the stats against opposing starter Adam Wainwright. The Pirates are hitting .303 in 145 at bats against the 34 year old with four homers, 15 RBI, and only 25 strikeouts. Since he has the offense backing him, I will take a chance on Glasnow. He likely wont go much more than five innings, and he has had issues with walks in the minors, but in a small slate, he is worth taking a chance on.

Honorable Mention:

Blake Snell ($6,500): Snell has never faced the Angels, but the Rays have faced opposing starter Hector Santiago. The Rays are hitting .295 against Santiago in 44 at bats with three homers, seven RBI, and 10 strikeouts. It’s a toss up between Snell and Santiago. Snell’s ERA is nearly a run lower, so I will take a chance with him against the average Angels offense.

Andrew McCutchen ($3,800) is 14-48(.292) with two walks, six doubles, a triple, a home run, and four RBI off of Adam Wainwright. Jordy Mercer ($3,400) is an interesting target. He is only 5-19(.263) off of Wainwright, but he has hit two solo home runs off of him. Gregory Polanco ($4,800) is 3-6 with a walk, a double, and two RBI against Wainwright. Josh Harrison ($3,500) is 7-18(.389) with a walk, two doubles, and a RBI off of Wainwright. Starling Marte ($5,000) is only 6-29(.207), but he has a walk, a triple, a homer, and a pair of RBI.

Hank Conger ($2,300) has slugged a solo homer against Hector Santiago. Steven Souza ($3,600) has a three run blast as his only hit in two at bats against Santiago.
