A Chicago Cubs fan was carted off the field after falling onto the warning track during a rain delay.

During a rain delay before the Cubs and Braves last night, a fan fell onto the warning track. The fan apparently fell from the right field bleachers into the warning track and became immobilized. The fan would lie there for five minutes without moving before Wrigley Field medics came to assist him.

It took three medics to eventually turn the man over on his back. The medics then proceeded on to putting a neck brace on him, putting the fan on a stretcher and then finally driving him off of the field.

Here are a couple of images from the incident:

The fan then would be transported to a local Chicago hospital and was listed in critical condition. After the fan was in the hospital, the Cubs decided to release a brief statement prior to any prognosis:

“Prior to tonight’s game, a fan was injured after attempting to jump onto the field from the Wrigley Field bleachers. The fan was taken by paramedics to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. We are unable to provide further comment on his condition at this time. We will remain in contact with the fan’s family to stay updated on his progress.”

While the baseball game that fans pay a lot of money for is always the main attraction, fans should always be mindful of their own safety. The fan apparently tried to jump onto the field, according to the statement from the cubs, which wasn’t the smartest thing to do.
