Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Add Jose Reyes to your roster!
As we head into the final weekend before the MLB All-Star break, now is a great time to evaluate your rosters and use the “week-off” to rebuild your roster for the stretch run. One of the best ways to do this is to look through your roster to identify dead weight you can cut (yeah, I am looking at you Jason Heyward) and scour the waiver wire for top Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire additions.
One player who remains un-owned in over 60% of Yahoo leagues is the controversial shortstop Jose Reyes who officially reunited with the New York Mets earlier this week.
After being cut loose by the Colorado Rockies, Reyes finds himself back in New York and many fans and fantasy owners may have written him off but I believe Reyes has the chance to be an impact fantasy player down the stretch as his opportunity in New York presents us with massive potential to profit on a waiver wire flyer.

What is left in the tank for Reyes?
When Reyes was initially released by the Rockies, many baseball experts wrote Reyes off as a player past his prime that had nothing left to offer Major League Baseball teams. However looking at last year’s statistics, Reyes in only 116 games delivered a .274 average and 24 stolen bases which was the 3rd most of any shortstop in fantasy baseball in an abbreviated season.
Reyes is certainly not the dynamic player he once was, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have value to the New York Mets or fantasy baseball owners looking for speed and some pop in the infield.
Reyes has been immediately inserted back into the lead-off spot in New York, moving Curtis Granderson to the #2 hole in front of MVP candidate Yoenis Cespedes. After some offensive struggles over the last few weeks, the Mets offense has been clicking on all cylinders and batting at the top of an order with so many power threats will not only lead to increased runs scored for Reyes but should lead to better pitches to hit as pitchers look to avoid walking hitters ahead of the meat of the order.
One of the biggest values in my mind is that Reyes is now also the primary third baseman, a position he is only 2 games into and thus has not yet received eligibility for in the Yahoo game. By the end of this weekend, Reyes will likely have hit his 5 game threshold and will have SS and 3B eligibility which for leagues where bench spots are at a premium, allows for significant roster flexibility when building your lineups.

Reyes has no doubt put a jolt of energy back into the Mets lineup since his return, and for a player in such a prime lineup spot with the speed upside he has, he makes for a must add as his dual eligibility will make him a valuable bench addition in all leagues.
