Ranking each decade’s best dynasty
Ranking each decade’s best super team or dynasty.
The 2016-17 Golden State Warriors aren’t the first super team created and they certainly won’t be the last. In fact, they have been around since roughly the 1960s even though free agency didn’t exist until the 1970s for baseball and the 1980s for baseball. The concept didn’t start with LeBron James and the Miami Heat. Heck, it started before even the 1990s New York Yankees.
Dynasties and dominant teams can be a polarizing topic. What if a team is really dominant because they draft extremely well? Some teams just happened to have two Hall of Fame caliber players fall in their laps. Others were formed through free agency and trades. Still, others were formed because some best buds wanted to go win championships together. Regardless of how they were formed, these dominant teams were each excellent for their respective sport. If nothing else, they provided the necessary villain for the heroes to overcome.
Overcoming these teams can often feel impossible. But that’s why you play the games. Teams will be judged based on how many titles they won and how dominant they were compared to their peers. The Warriors could easily find their way onto this list when it’s all said and done. But for now, here is each decade’s best super team, starting with the 1960s.
