Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis put on a show in NBA Summer League action on Saturday night from Las Vegas.
Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis put on a dazzling display in NBA Summer League action Saturday evening including a highlight move where he schooled rookie Jaylen Brown and finished in style. The 6-foot-11 big man out of Arkansas started with the ball up near the three-point line, and with Celtics’ rookie Jaylen Brown guarding him, he managed to elude the youngster.
That gave Portis the wide open lane for the drive to the hoop and the sick dunk to show just what he’s capable of.
Not only did the sophomore show off with the highlight dunk, but his overall stat line helped to showcase his talents. Portis recorded a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds in a Bulls’ victory. He also added a block to his double-double in just about 30 minutes of time on the court.
Portis was the Bulls’ No. 22 draft pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. In his first season, he averaged meager numbers including seven points, 5.4 boards and just under an assist on average per game. He’ll now have three talented players on the team who may be able to provide him with plenty of ally-oops and highlight passes to get his game going. Look out for the trio of Jimmy Butler, Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo as they will certainly be making sure other players on the Bulls get into the action this season. Portis could be just one of the players to benefit in the absence of Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol.
