Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 9 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Daniel Murphy, Nationals (5,400): In his last five games against the New York Mets, Murphy is a combined 8-for-21 with three home runs and nine RBIs. It’s safe to say he’s motivated to burn his former team. Expect another solid outing Saturday against righty Logan Verrett (3-5, 4.01 ERA). Murphy still leads the National League in batting average (.345) and is hitting .359 against right-handers this season.

Jose Altuve, Astros (5,400): Robinson Cano (5,100) also stands out as a solid play in this salary range, but we gave Altuve the nod. The majors’ leader in batting average (.347) is hitting .354 against right-handed pitchers this season. He’s also 3-for-9 in his career against Oakland Athletics starter Kendall Graveman (4-6, 4.57 ERA). The Astros are trending upward, while the A’s have dropped into a last-place tie in the American League West. Start Altuve with confidence.

High Value

Whit Merrifield, Royals (3,500): Merrifield appears to have hit a rookie wall, having gone just 1-for-19 over his last five games, but he has a few things working in his favor on Saturday. First, he should be low-owned due to his recent cold streak. Second, he’s still hitting .333 against lefties, so the matchup with Seattle southpaw Wade Miley (6-5, 5.36 ERA) is an inviting one.

Logan Forsythe, Rays (3,400): Tampa Bay’s leadoff hitter has homered in two of his last three games, an encouraging power display that he’ll try to keep going on Saturday. The 29-year-old Forsythe is 6-for-17 (.353) in his career against Boston Red Sox righty Rick Porcello (10-2, 3.82 ERA). He’s worth a look on Saturday.
