Identifying the top high salary and value shortstop plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 9 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Aledmys Diaz, Cardinals (5,000): Diaz has become one of the most consistent fantasy producers at shortstop. He’s hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games and has hit double digits in DK points in eight of his last 11 games. He should stay hot Saturday against Milwaukee’s Chase Anderson (4-9, 5.49 ERA), against whom he homered earlier this season.
Trevor Story, Rockies (4,900): Shortstop is full of solid options on Saturday, Corey Seager (4,800) and Xander Bogaerts (4,500) in particular. But Story has been on fire through the series’ first two games against Philadelphia (4-for-8, two HRs, six RBIs), and that trend should continue Saturday against right-hander Jerad Eickhoff (6-9, 3.30 ERA).
High Value
Didi Gregorius, Yankees (3,800): Gregorius has blossomed into one of the Yankees’ most consistently solid fantasy performers this season. He’s now hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games and has reached double-digit DK points in seven of those 11 games. He’s more of a threat against left-handed pitchers, but his average against righties has risen to a respectable .278. He’s a solid value play Saturday against Cleveland Indians starter Danny Salazar (10-3, 2.36 ERA).
Brandon Crawford, Giants (3,600): Crawford might not end up surpassing (or even replicating) his 21 home runs from 2015, but he’s still having a productive season. His 58 RBIs lead all Giants players by a wide margin and are tied for ninth in the National League. He’s hitting .290 against lefties this season, so he’s a solid play Saturday against Arizona southpaw Robbie Ray (4-7, 4.78 ERA).
