2. Relay Race

A relay race could be an exciting event to add to the MLB All-Star Game. Each league would get to select a group of five players to participate in a skills relay challenge. The relay would involve a hitting challenge, a pitching challenge, a throwing challenge, a catching/defense challenge, and to finish everything off, a speed challenge. Each team would get a point for winning each round. At the end of the relay, the team with the most points wins. Winners would get a donation in their name to the charity of their choice.

The hitting challenge would be similar to the Home Run Derby. There would be two objectives. The first would be seeing how many pitches it took for each player to hit three home runs. If there would be a tie, each hitter would get one last swing and distance would be measured.

For the pitching challenge, a cardboard cut out of a catcher with four random targets would be set up. Similar to the accuracy portion of the NHL All-Star Skills Competition, each pitcher tries to hit the targets. The pitcher who can do hit all four targets in the fewest pitches would win. In case of a tiebreaker, the pitcher who finished with the fastest time would win.

The throwing challenge would be purely based on distance. For the defense challenge, balls would be launched in the air from home plate. Players would be in the outfield. The first player to catch five balls in the air would win. For the speed challenge, each player sprints around the bases as fast as they can. The player who finishes in the fastest time wins.
