Check out this perfect throw from Buster Posey to Jake Peavy.

Saturday, during the Giants-Diamondbacks game, Buster Posey showed why he’s considered one of the best players in the MLB. He didn’t make any particularly impressive play, but he dropped this ball straight into the glove of Jake Peavy while Peavy argued with the third base umpire.

The throw even shocked Posey, who exclaimed “It doesn’t look real” when a reporter showed him the video.

This was just one instance in a weird day for the Giants and Diamondbacks, who had a ball land squarely in a fan’s beer, had several players trip and fall, and had multiple players hit by baseballs.

Posey is having a great 8th year with the San Francisco Giants. His .286 batting average isn’t as good as it has been in previous years, but it’s pretty hard to duplicate the numbers he’s put up in recent years with the Giants. Posey has been talked about as being one of the best catchers of all time, and little skills like this show why. The accuracy on this throw is truly remarkable.

The Giants are 56-33, and hold the 1st place spot in the NL West. They’ve gotten there through a powerful offense and deft fielding from players like Posey and will definitely challenge for the World Series title for yet another year. Plays like the one Posey made Saturday won’t help them score any runs or turn any doubles, but they’re indicative of the sheer talent on the Giant’s roster.
