John Cena, the most universally recognized wrestler and host of this year’s ESPY awards, wants to get primal by wrestling a live bear.

John Cena is literally everywhere. He’s in movies, he’s wresting in the WWE, he’s in Foot Locker commercials, and on the 4th of July, he dropped a commercial with the Ad Council that’s receiving universal claim for its message.

Lately, GQ had an interview with the very real fake wrestling star about his involvement in mass media (movies like Trainwreck, the ESPYs), and asked him if he was going to do anything “special” at the ESPYs.

"GQ: We’ve seen you rap, dance, sing Adele, kill it in comedy—do you have any trick that you’re about to pull out for the ESPYs that we haven’t seen yet?John Cena: I do. I’m going to wrestle a bear."
"GQ: An actual bear?Cena: I will be wrestling a grizzly bear hopped up on Diet Mountain Dew."

The 11-year-old boy deep inside my heart desperately wants this to be true. We grew up on John Cena vs. Eddie Guerro, John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels, and John Cena vs. Randy Orton, and if Cena isn’t completely messing with us, and if ESPN allows him, we might get to see John Cena vs. A Likely Fake But Hopefully Alive Bear.

Let’s be very serious: this isn’t going to happen. However, it shows the comedy and disposition of the wrestler well, and it shows why he was asked to host the ESPYs.
