2. Tommy Joseph to the Miami Marlins

The Marlins have a platoon situation at first base, as Chris Johnson and Justin Bour switch on and off depending on who the opposing pitcher is. Bour, a left-handed power hitter, faces righties, as he has not shown the ability to hit them consistently throughout his short career. Johnson faces the lefties, but he has not done a good job this season.

Bour is the obvious guy that Miami Marlins’ manager Don Mattingly would love to plug into the lineup everyday. He has incredible power, and has shown the ability to drive in runs in bunches. However, he looks like a completely different hitter against lefties, meaning the Marlins need a complementary bat. Chris Johnson is not the answer.

Tommy Joseph would be the perfect complement to Bour, and would give the Marlins power from the right side against left-handers. He has 11 home runs in limited at-bats this season, and would give the Marlins another big bat behind Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup.

The Marlins actually have a chance to secure a wild card spot this season, but need to make some moves in order to stay competitive in a very tough NL East division. Joseph would be a great, low cost/high reward option, and they would not have to give up much to get him.

One prospect the Phillies should look to target is Anfernee Seymour, a 21-year-old kid who can play shortstop or the outfield. He is currently playing for the Marlins’ A affiliate in the South Atlantic League, and has shown the ability to be a burner on the base paths. He has 33 stolen bases already this season, and is a switch hitter, batting .261 on the year.
