NBA Rumors: Trail Blazers have matched Allen Crabbe’s offer

The Blazers have matched Allen Crabbe’s four-year $75 million offer.

The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly matched Allen Crabbe’s offer sheet with the Brooklyn Nets. Crabbe’s offer sheet with the Nets was for four years and $75 million.

Crabbe played a pivotal role off off the Portland Trail Blazers’ bench during the 2015-16 season. Crabbe spent time at both shooting guard and small forward last season and served as coach Terry Stotts’ third guard off of the bench.

He put in his best season as a pro last season since being drafted by the Cavaliers in 2013 but then being traded to Portland on draft night. He put up career-high averages of 10 points and nearly three rebounds a game.

The Portland Trailblazers did add former Celtic forward Evan Turner in free agency, who is expected to come in and start with the Blazers pushing Al-Farouq Aminu to the power forward.

Portland also let Gerald Henderson walk in free agency to the Philadelphia 76ers. So Allen Crabbe’s spot in Terry Stotts’ rotation should be safe for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

A four-year, $75 million contract may seem like a lot for a bench player who basically has only had one good season. Though with the salary cap rising, these are the type of deals that we have been seeing this summer.

The move of bringing back Crabbe is a great move for the Blazers; that’s because as the third guard off of the bench, Crabbe is able to spell C.J. McCollum or Damian Lillard, with McCollum sliding over to the point guard when Lilliard takes his rest.
