Stephen Jackson to try to make a comeback with the Warriors
By Andre Pruitt
Stephen Jackson will try to make a comeback with the Warriors this fall.
With the Golden State Warriors landing free agent superstar Kevin Durant, a lot of players will be taking lesser salaries for a chance to join the Warriors. The Warriors have already added David West and Zaza Pachulia to cheap contracts.
Not only have current players been eyeing a chance to join the NBA Finals runner-ups, but retired NBA players and even NFL players have been giving the Warriors a look. Jermaine O’Neal has said that he’s “game” for a return to the Warriors, while Von Miller and Michael Vick have both posted photo shopped images of themselves in Warriors jerseys.
According to ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, Stephen Jackson will attend the Warriors’ training camp in an attempt to make an NBA comeback. Captain Jack last played for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2013-14 season and was cut after only playing in nine games.
That’s now two retired players and two NFL players (sarcastically) that have been interested in joining the Warriors since Durant chose to sign in Golden State. There surely will be many more retired players that will be interested in joining the Warriors due to their high chances of reaching the Finals and winning it all.
Jackson is 38 and has not played in an NBA game in two and half years. He may have a chance to make the Warriors roster, with their bench looking thin at the moment. Though, if he does make the team, he will most likely just provide a mentor-ship role to the young stars in Golden State.
