Jared Sullinger says he joining the Toronto Raptors via twitter.
Jared Sullinger has announced he’s joining the Toronto Raptors though his twitter account. Sullinger changed his avatar to the Raptors logo and said “WE NORTH #0”.
Sullinger was a starter for the Boston Celtics during the during the 2015-16 season. He started 73 of 81 games last season for coach Brad Stevens.
He points per game did fall, however, from nearly 13 a game from the 2014 and 2015 seasons to only 10 last season. Though, his rebounding stayed consistent with nearly 8 per contest.
Ultimately Sullinger fell out of favor with the Celtics in the playoffs, with coach Brad Stevens turning to more floor spacing against the Atlanta Hawks and incorporating Jonas Jerebko into the starting lineup.
Since Boston rescinded Sullinger’s qualifying offer, the Celtics can not match it. The offer is reportedly worth one-year and $6 million according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.
A one-year $6 million can be looked at as a steal for the Masai Ujiri and the Toronto Raptors. Especially with Sullinger coming in and expected to start for the Raptors .
For the Toronto Raptors, the power forward position has been a weak spot in their starting lineup for sometime. With Luis Scola and Patrick Patterson both providing little to no production at power forward last season, the job will be Sullinger’s to lose.
If Sullinger is able to keep his weight down, which has been a problem for him in the past, expect Sullinger to be a welcome improvement over Scola and Patterson at power forward.
