The much-anticipated SEC Media Days 2016 kickoff in Hoover, Alabama on Monday, July 11th. Here is how you can watch Day One of SEC Media Days online.
SEC Media Days are officially underway at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Alabama on Monday afternoon. This annual event has become quite the media spectacle, as the Southeastern region of the United States just can’t seem to get enough SEC football.
While all 14 SEC schools will have their head coaches and three upperclassmen representing their Power 5 institution in Hoover, the first three schools up on Monday are Auburn University, the University of Florida, and Vanderbilt University.
Representing the Auburn Tigers will be head coach Gus Malzahn, senior defensive lineman Montravius Adams, senior wide receiver Marcus Davis, and junior defensive lineman Carl Lawson. Auburn is coming off a mediocre 7-6 (2-6) 2015 campaign, finishing in seventh in the SEC West. Malzahn might still be on the hot seat in 2016 even after getting a multi-year extension from athletic director Jay Jacobs earlier this summer.
Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain will bring with him to Hoover senior linebacker Jarrad Davis, senior defensive back Marcus Maye, and junior offensive lineman David Sharpe. In McElwain’s first year as the Gators’ head coach, Florida won the SEC East with a 10-4 (7-1) record. Florida should be a contender to repeat in the SEC East this fall.
For the Vanderbilt Commodores, head coach Derek Mason will begin his third season in Nashville, trying to right the ship of a sinking Vanderbilt program. Joining him in Hoover will be junior linebacker Zach Cunningham, junior linebacker Oren Burks, and junior running back Ralph Webb. Vanderbilt finished in fourth place in the SEC East, but failed to make a bowl game with a 4-8 (2-6) record. Does Vanderbilt have to reach bowl eligibility for Mason to get a fourth year with the Commodores?
