USC unveiled new jerseys for the 2016 football season on Monday, moving away from their classic jersey to a sleeker, modern look.
The USC Trojans will have a new look when they take the field in 2016, as the school announced a new design for their football program’s uniforms.
“Respect the past, represent the future,” was the motto employed by Nike in modernizing the uniforms.
Here is a video of the new look for the Trojans.
Fans of the USC program have always loved the classic design, though these new jerseys should be more player friendly. They have the new mach speed design, which uses tougher materials, and chain mesh for improved ventilation. The jerseys will debut the Trojan key pattern and new collar and cuffs for home and away jerseys.
Here are mock ups of the new jerseys:
No change is expected for their classic Trojans helmet, though there was mention of chroming them up a bit.
The program struggled through an 8-6 season in 2015, losing to the Stanford Cardinal in the Pac-12 Championship game. During the regular season, USC fell short in their rival games, losing to both the Cardinal and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but they were able to defeat the UCLA Bruins.
The USC Trojans will open up their 2016 slate on September 3rd against Alabama in the Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. They will be looking to avenge their Pac-12 championship loss, but will have tough sledding to get there.
