It’s not Halloween yet, but you’ve never been more desperate for candy, huh?
Public service announcement: If you see a black van lurking around the neighborhood and driving slowly down the streets with white letters painted on the side “Free Pokecandy,” go home quickly.
Getting more candy in Pokemon GO isn’t so risky.
Though, you do need to put some work into it. Luckily, if you’re wondering how to get more candy in Pokemon GO, we can help.
Pokecandy is like Nintendo/Niantic’s way of saying “we’re sorry you have so many Rattatas but think about how strong your Raticate” will be.
It’s the work-around for not actually being able to level up your Pokemon.
Pokecandies are used to power up your Pokemon, and with enough of them, you can evolve your Pokemon. Mind you, “enough” can be 25 or 400, the latter of which is the amount you’ll need to evolve that Magikarp flopping around majestically in your bag.
There are several ways to get more candy.
Every time you catch a Pokemon, you’re awarded three candies that are specific to that Pokemon and its evolutions. You can’t use Pidgey candy on a Caterpie.
After you start catching duplicates, you can choose the one with the lowest CP (Combat Power) or the ones that have the lamer moves if you’re that kind of player, then scroll to the bottom of their stat page to select “transfer.” Once you choose to transfer your Pokemon, they’re gone to the Professor forever, just like releasing in the traditional Pokemon games but much less heartbreaking.
Transferring Pokemon gives you one candy per transfer.
Finally, once an egg hatches, your new hatchling will also come with corresponding candy.
Unlike pokeballs, you can’t just buy more candies.
Catching Pokemon in real world settings is part of what makes Pokemon GO so cool, so don’t be afraid to catch ’em all and transfer the duplicates. If you need help leveling up, we can help with that, too!
