After a short retirement, Manny Pacquiao will be returning to the ring this fall to face an unknown opponent

When Manny Pacquiao recently announced his retirement, we all assumed that not only would it not be permanent, but it wouldn’t last all that long either. If you’re in this group, then you’re correct.

According to ESPN, Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, revealed that he will be ending his short retirement and will be returning to the ring this fall. Again, this was a move that we all saw coming, and it might have actually come sooner rather than later.

Pacquiao last fought back in April when he defeated Timothy Bradley Jr. and it was that performance that had everyone thinking that he might second guess his retirement decision. In actuality, he put on one of the better performances of his career in that fight, so retirement seemed like a bad decision.

Prior to that fight, he finally stepped into the ring against Floyd Mayweather to give us the fight that we were all waiting for, but he was dominated by his undefeated foe, which is where the retirement speculation really began.

As for his opponent this fall, Arum stated that it’s not known just yet, but he did say that it would not be Adrien Broner. There have been whispers that the two could battle it out with one another, but apparently that won’t be the case.

Nonetheless, we will be getting more of Manny Pacquiao in the boxing ring come this fall. He’s expected to make this return on either Oct. 29 or Nov. 5.
