With the MLB Trade Deadline approaching, who will be the 10 best players available for teams looking to buy?
If there’s one sport in which the annual trade deadline is as busy as any, it’s baseball. The MLB Trade Deadline is one of the most exciting times of the summer, second to only the return of football — I’m not counting the NBA Finals because those are technically over before summer officially begins.
Baseball fans begin to realize what their favorite teams are: buyers or sellers. Every year, there are a few teams that are still in the race for the playoffs but decide to sell in order to build for the future instead of being a wild card squad.
This year, there are a few teams that are heads and shoulders ahead of the rest — the Cubs, Giants and Rangers are prime examples — and a few that are seemingly already out of the race completely — looking at you, Twins, Diamondbacks and Brewers.
The teams that are considered out of the race and are already 15-plus games out of first place in their respective division usually sell major pieces by the trade deadline on August 1. Even if players seem like big-time pieces to the future puzzle of the organization, the front office believes that adding young farm system talent to build on is more important.
Plenty of big names have been dealt by the MLB Trade Deadline in years past such as David Price, Yoenis Cespedes, Cliff Lee, Carlos Beltran and Manny Ramirez, among others.
Let’s take a look at which 10 big names could be on the move before this year’s MLB Trade Deadline.
