Rio 2016 men’s soccer schedule

A look at when the Rio 2016 men’s soccer games will be played.

The Rio Olympics are just a couple of weeks away, and that means we are set for another summer soccer tournament. Every four years, soccer teams from around the world compete to be the best in their continents, and the winner of those championships get invited to the next summer olympics.

The only difference between this tournament and other big name competitions is that this is strictly for youth teams. However, teams involved can name three older players to their rosters. Players like Neymar and Douglas Costa are already named to their Brazil roster, and could make the hosts an even harder opponent to take on.

The event will begin on August 4th and will run until August 20th, with the quarter-finals kicking off on the 12th and the semi’s on the 16th.

The fixtures will take place at various locations in Brazil, with the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro being the largest stadium to feature game’s. Most of the stadiums are fully upgraded, with the recent World Cup being held in Brazil in 2014.

Here is a quick look at the schedule for the men’s fixtures:

Group A:

August 4th:

Iraq vs Denmark 12 p.m EST

Brazil vs South Africa 3 p.m EST

August 7th:

Denmark vs South Africa 6 p.m EST

Brazil vs Iraq 9 p.m EST

August 10th:

Denmark vs Brazil 9 p.m EST

South Africa vs Iraq 9 p.m EST

Group B:

August 4th

Sweden vs Colombia 6 p.m EST

Nigeria vs Japan 9 p.m EST

August 7th:

Sweden vs Nigeria 6 p.m EST

Japan vs Colombia 9 p.m EST

August 10th:

Japan vs Sweden 6 p.m EST

Colombia vs Nigeria 6 p.m EST

Group C:

August 4th:

Mexico vs Germany 4p.m EST

Fiji vs Korea Republic 7p.m EST

August 7th:

Fiji vs Mexico 12 p.m EST

Germany vs Korea Republic 3 p.m EST

August 10th:

Germany vs Fiji 3 p.m EST

Korea Republic vs Mexico 3 p.m EST

Group D:

August 4th:

Honduras vs Algeria 2 p.m EST

Portugal vs Argentina 5 p.m EST

August 7th:

Honduras vs Portugal 2 p.m EST

Argentina vs Algeria 5 p.m EST

August 10th: 

Algeria vs Portugal 12 p.m EST

Argentina vs Honduras 12 p.m EST
