Salvador Perez crushes second inning home run in MLB All-Star Game (video)
Watch as Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez crushes a long second inning home run in the MLB All-Star Game.
Kris Bryant gave the National League an early 1-0 lead, but two Kansas City Royals stars have brought the American League right back in the MLB All-Star Game. First it was Eric Hosmer with a solo shot, and then Salvador Perez hit a long two-run home run.
Perez’ home run came with Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. on first base, and it gave the American League a 3-1 lead.
Hosmer’s home run made him the first Royals’ player to hit a HR in an All-Star Game since Bo Jackson in 1989. However, Perez did not waste any time to become the next Kansas City player to accomplish the feat.
Both home runs were off of San Francisco Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto, who started the game for the National League. Cueto was a teammate of both Hosmer and Perez with the Royals last season. Rough reunion for him.
While the National League was flying high early in the game, the American League, led by two Kansas City Royals stars, are now looking great. Can the NL All-Stars get back on top? There is still plenty of time to go before this game is determined.
