Today’s press conferences featuring Bret Bielema and Nick Saban got a little wild.
Press conferences have become somewhat of a joke these days, with reporters pitching up softballs over the plate for coaches to touch on. This has not been the case with the SEC Media Days. Yesterday, Dan Mullen was grilled over Jeffery Simmons, who was caught on video repeatedly hitting a woman, and only received a one game suspension.
The always-candid Bret Bielema commented on many subjects, and even took some shots at Dan Mullen and Mississippi State.
Bret Bielema delivers: "You don't have to ask me if I'm going to suspend anybody for the first game. It doesn't happen in our program."

He commented on his frustrations after the Texas A&M-Arkansas game.

Bret Bielema: "Don't say anything, I might punch you."

Then he said some really weird things, as only Bielema can do.

The spotlight was stolen from him by Nick Saban and Paul Finebaum, who had a verbal altercation after Finebaum grilled Saban on Cam Robinson, an Alabama OT who will not miss any playing time after an arrest.

Paul @finebaum dead-on right forcing Nick Saban to answer the Cam Robinson call until Saban tapped out, "that's the end of the conversation"

Finebaum was right to work Saban over about the school’s failure to do anything after Robinson’s arrest. This led to Saban exploding on Finebaum off camera.
Finebaum: If there was a video of what Saban said to me and all of us in the 2-3 mins after that interview, it'd go viral w/ 14 million hits

Saban is a firey guy and I doubt he’s ever been pressed to answer a question like he was today about Robinson. The thought process behind the university’s decision should be public knowledge. Saban was much more open with the SEC network after his eruption.

I’m not sure whether this is real or if Saban knows something we don’t. Either way, it seems like we’ll never know.
