Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly told the gathered press that he believes he’s the best quarterback in college football entering the 2016 season.
In just over a month a half, the 2016 college football season will thankfully get underway with some massive contests between teams that could end up playing for a national title when it’s all said and done. One of those teams is the Ole Miss Rebels, who will look to finally win the SEC West and make it into the College Football Playoff.
With several key loses, the Rebels will only go as far as quarterback Chad Kelly will take them. The senior, who spent time at both Clemson and in the junior college level, isn’t worried about what the 2016 season has in store as he made sure to let reporters know how highly he thinks of himself, according to ESPN.com:
"“I’m the best quarterback in the nation.”“In order to have confidence in yourself and team, you have to think you’re the best. That’s what I want our whole team — from offensive linemen to running backs — we have to think we’re the best players and the best team out there.“I want to be remembered as the greatest quarterback that ever played.”"
While Kelly is a GOOD quarterback, there is a gentleman in Clemson who would likely have some beef with that statement – as well as a few more in Los Angeles, Coral Gables and Knoxville.
Truth be told, Kelly could end up with two losses by the third week of the season with the opener against Florida State and another battle with Alabama just 12 days later. Kelly might need to worry more about those games than making bold statements that aren’t true.
