With the deadline to sign franchise players to an extension looming, the Denver Broncos are hoping they can lock up pass rushing phenom and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller to an extension, before letting him hit free agency.

Miller, who turned down the Broncos first offer, has said that he won’t be playing under the franchise tag next season. According to Ian Rapoport, the Broncos are upping the guaranteed money in their original offer to Miller.

Now, that’s a lot more money guaranteed and certainly seems like a deal that’s in the ballpark of what Miller will accept. The Broncos ridiculously low-balled Miller with their first offer in guaranteed money.

When it comes to the NFL, it’s all about the guaranteed money in a deal. The Broncos can’t afford to lose Miller because of what he brings to their defense and the fact that they’re going to need their defense to carry them with a young quarterback on the roster an offense in transition.

It would be hard for Miller to turn down a deal like this and if Rapoport is right about the progress they have made, then don’t be surprised to see an extension come soon.
