WWE issued a brief statement on Brock Lesnar potentially failing a drug test with UFC.
Brock Lesnar’s future is in doubt after the USADA flagged him for a potential anti-doping violation. This comes from a June 28 test. Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt at UFC 200.
One of the questions was how WWE would act on this. The Beast Incarnate is still under contract with the company, and he’s scheduled to wrestle Randy Orton at SummerSlam on August 21. WWE would put out a brief statement on the matter, not going into any detail.
"Brock Lesnar has not performed for WWE since WrestleMania and is not scheduled to return until Sunday, Aug. 21."
WWE staying brief is no surprise, as they’ll want to wait for the process to play out. Lesnar’s violation likely has to be confirmed first before he gets suspended by Vince McMahon.
If WWE suspends Lesnar before July 21, he’ll be able to return for SummerSlam, which is one month later. So they can still get away with having him show up at the second biggest pay-per-view of the year, despite the ongoing situation.
Should Lesnar be suspended after the 21st, then WWE will have to reshuffle the SummerSlam card. Orton would be moved to another match, as this was hyped as his return bout. A backup for him likely can’t be determined until the draft takes place on July 19, when the Viper will be placed on Raw or SmackDown.
What WWE ends up doing –if anything– with Brock Lesnar remains to be seen.
