Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 15 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Daniel Murphy, Nationals (5,200): Murphy finished the first half of the season on a tear, entering the All-Star break with home runs in three of his final four games. He still leads the majors in batting average (.348) and is hitting .314 against left-handers. That latter figure bodes well for his matchup Friday against Pittsburgh Pirates southpaw Francisco Liriano (5-8, 5.15 ERA).

Jose Altuve, Astros (5,100): Murphy might lead the majors in average, but Altuve leads the American League (.341). The 26-year-old dynamo is putting together an MVP-caliber season, so it’s no surprise that he’s one of Friday’s top plays against Seattle Mariners lefty James Paxton (2-3, 3.91 ERA). Altuve is hitting .321 against lefties, so he can be started with confidence.

High Value

Brandon Phillips, Reds (3,500): Cincinnati is in rebuild mode, which could mean the 35-year-old Phillips will have a new team by the Aug. 1 trade deadline. That remains to be seen. On Friday, Phillips stands out as a solid value play, given his history of success against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Matt Garza (10-for-29, five RBIs).

Starlin Castro, Yankees (3,200): Castro has had more success at home this season (.290) than on the road (.226). He also continues to hit in the middle third of New York’s lineup, another reason to like him as a GPP play on Friday when the Yankees host Boston and knuckleballer Steven Wright. Wright has struggled in his last two starts, so Castro could put together a nice game against him.
