Identifying the top high salary and value third baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 15 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays (5,600): Let’s be real — Donaldson is a viable every single night in DFS. Sure, he’s always going to cost a pretty penny, but more often than not, he returns value. He has a great matchup Friday against Oakland Athletics rookie right-hander Daniel Mengden (1-4, 4.54 ERA). There’s also the revenge factor in facing his former team.
Jake Lamb, Diamondbacks (5,500): Lamb didn’t participate in this year’s All-Star Game, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t playing like an All-Star. His .612 slugging percentage ranks second in the majors, trailing only David Ortiz (.682). He’s hitting .314 against right-handers this season, a fact that bodes well for his home matchup Friday against Los Angeles Dodgers starter Bud Norris (4-7, 3.98 ERA).
High Value
Evan Longoria, Rays (3,900): Longoria isn’t super-cheap, but for less than 4,000, he offers solid value. He finished the first half of the season by tallying 10 hits, including a home run, over his last five games. Longoria’s numbers against Baltimore Orioles righty Yovani Gallardo (2-for-12, one double) aren’t great, but Longoria has been better overall than Gallardo this season. He’s worth a roll of the dice.
Travis Shaw, Red Sox (3,600): Shaw is hitting .290 against right-handers this season. That’s solid, as is his 3-for-10 career mark against New York Yankees starter Michael Pineda (3-8, 5.38 ERA). Pineda allowed five runs in six innings in his last start, but he hasn’t faced Boston since early May. Expect the potent Red Sox lineup to do some damage, and Shaw is cheap exposure to that production.
