DraftKings: Top Value Plays for July 15

Finding value can be the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail.” Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings slate.

Today’s slate is proving to be a tough day to find extremely cheap options without sacrificing value. It’s important to maintain value even when punting a position. Hopefully you can squeeze these guys in, with some of the higher priced pitching options available. Don’t expect these guys to be world-beaters, but rather solid role players for your lineup. Also, remember that each contest type is different and may change the context of these picks.

 Jayson Werth – WSH (OF) – $3600

Betting second, with a run projection around 4.5 runs, you’ll find a lot of Werth (or Werthless as he’s now known in Philly) in my lineups. He has tremendous splits against lefties, with a .439 wOBA split and a .31 ISO split.

Ramiro Pena – SF (2B/SS) – $2600

Pena is a switch hitter who is much better against right-handed pitchers such as Cashner. While Pena isn’t a confirmed starter yet, he offers dual position eligibility for a cheap price, with a total run projection of 4.5. Make sure to check to see if he makes the lineup prior to lineup lock.

Gordon Beckham – ATL (2B/3B) – $3000

Beckham has been announced as the lead off man for the Braves tonight. He’ll face a lefty tonight, providing a favorable matching. He also carries dual position eligibility.

Trea Turner – WSH (2B/SS) – $3400

Like Werth, Turner is going to find his way into a ton of my lineups tonight. Turner is on the good side of a righty, lefty split and in a favorable match up for the Nats.
