The Denver Broncos have officially come to a contract agreement with star defender Von Miller.

After a ton of back-and-forth throughout the off season, the Broncos have come to an agreement with Super Bowl MVP and star linebacker Von Miller.

The agreement was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN, and Miller himself quickly shared the news with his Twitter followers.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Broncos and Miller’s agreement goes through six years, for $114 million with $70 million being guaranteed. That contract will make Miller the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.

Miller was not happy about the Broncos placing him with the franchise tag earlier this off season, and the two sides have seemed to be far apart on a deal until recent days. That being said, the Broncos eventually caved to his demands on more guaranteed money, and for good reason.

Considered one of the most dynamic defensive players in the NFL in recent years, Miller really took his game to the next level down the stretch last season. He absolutely dominated in the post-season, finishing with five total sacks in the Broncos’ last two games.

His 2.5 sack, two forced fumble performance in Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers also led to Miller being named the Super Bowl MVP.

He was absolutely dominant last season, and was the single most important player for the Broncos during their Super Bowl championship run.

Losing him was not an option for the team, and while John Elway did not want to give him a record-setting contract, the Broncos simply could not have afforded to lose him.

With all that behind them, the Broncos will now go to work with their star pass rusher leading the way.
