Brock Lesnar may be in trouble with the UFC, but is he going to be at WWE SummerSlam?
Brock Lesnar is in trouble with the UFC, as he has been flagged for a potential anti-doping violation by the USADA. This was apparently found out on June 28, nearly two weeks before his fight at UFC 200. This saw Lesnar defeat Mark Hunt in the co-main event.
Next on Lesnar’s list was supposed to be to wrestle Randy Orton at WWE SummerSlam. The company announced this on July 7, before the fight took place. WWE was hoping to capitalize on the momentum from Lesnar’s fight, but that could be in jeopardy.
As of Friday, Lesnar is still set to be at SummerSlam for this match with Orton. This takes place on Sunday, August 21.
If Lesnar’s anti-doping violation is true, then WWE may suspend him immediately. If so, he would still be able to come back for the pay-per-view next month. Under WWE’s Wellness Policy, first-time offenders warrant a 30-day suspension.
There is somewhat of a precedent set with this. Despite knowing of his failed drug test, WWE chose to put Roman Reigns into the WWE Battleground main event. They then made the results public and suspended him for 30 days. His first appearance since the failed test will be at the PPV on Sunday, July 24. WWE could do the same with Lesnar.
So the follow up on this situation will be interesting to follow. How will UFC react? Will Brock Lesnar even appear at SummerSlam? It remains to be seen.
