Identifying the top high salary and value outfielder plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 16 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Mike Trout, Angels (5,600): Well, this could get ugly. Trout is having another Trout-like season, despite Los Angeles’ struggles. He’s hitting .319 overall and .328 against righties this season, which means he could go off against struggling Chicago White Sox veteran James Shields (4-10, 5.42 ERA). Trout is 2-for-6 with a triple and home run in his career against Shields. Expect him to build upon that on Saturday.
Starling Marte, Pirates (5,100): The first-time All-Star continued his strong season in his first game out of the break, finishing with 10 DK points Friday against Washington. Marte has hit double digits in fantasy points in four straight games and now draws a matchup with right-hander Tanner Roark (8-5, 3.01 ERA). Marte is hitting .331 against righties this season and has previously homered off Roark.
High Value
Josh Reddick, Athletics (3,300): The lefty-hitting Reddick is usually a solid play against right-handed pitchers, against whom he is hitting .347 this season. We’ll choose to highlight that fact, instead of his head-to-head numbers against Toronto Blue Jays knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (1-for-11). Reddick has upside and comes at a discounted price.
Adam Jones, Orioles (3,100): Jones has alternated double-digit and single-digit DK point totals since last Tuesday, so following that trend, he’s due for a double-digit performance on Saturday. The matchup with Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Matt Moore (5-6, 4.46 ERA) works in his favor. Jones is 12-for-31 (.387) with three home runs against the young lefty.
