Identifying the top high salary and value pitcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 16 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Chris Tillman, Orioles (10,600): It’s not a great day for pitchers, but Tillman stands out as one of the top options. He’s been a bit up and down this season, but he’s coming off his best start (7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 5 K, 22.95 DK points) since mid-June. Tampa Bay has lost seven straight and ranks fourth in the majors in strikeouts (819), giving Tillman further upside.

Trevor Bauer, Indians (9,600): Speaking of upside, few pitchers have had more natural upside in the majors recently than Bauer. He hasn’t always lived up to the hype, but he’s put together easily his most impressive season to date (7-3, 3.30 ERA). Bauer is coming off a poor outing against the New York Yankees, but is in a great spot to bounce back against the last-place Minnesota Twins.

High Value

Jeff Samardzija, Giants (8,200): After a brutal June (1-2, 6.83 ERA), Samardzija has settled back in through his first two July starts, tallying 13.70 and 20.85 DK points, respectively. Samardzija stands out as the top value option on Saturday’s slate. He draws a road matchup with San Diego, which ranks third in the majors in strikeouts (823).

Matt Shoemaker, Angels (7,700): Shoemaker has topped 20 DK points in his last five home starts, including three over the 30-point plateau. On Saturday, he’ll face the Chicago White Sox, a team that strikes out a moderate amount (725; 14th in MLB). But again, given his recent success at Angel Stadium, he’s worth a look at his sub-8,000 price tag.
