Identifying the top high salary and value shortstop plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 16 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and check weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Corey Seager, Dodgers (5,200): Seager has hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games, dating back to June 28. The 22-year-old All-Star has firmly established himself as one of the game’s brightest young talents, and his skill set should be on display Saturday against Arizona Diamondbacks righty Archie Bradley (3-5, 4.64 ERA). Seager is hitting .316 against right-handers this season, and the Dodgers have one of Saturday’s highest expected run totals (5.1).

Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox (5,200): After a relatively quiet stretch to end June, Bogaerts has come alive in July. The 23-year-old shortstop has double-digit DK points in four of his last seven games, a stretch that includes two home runs and seven RBIs. His .344 average against lefties looks mighty appealing against New York Yankees southpaw CC Sabathia (5-6, 3.77 ERA).

High Value

Didi Gregorius, Yankees (4,300): OK, OK, so Gregorius isn’t exactly cheap. But he’s still a nice value play at this price. Gregorius has had great success against lefties this season (.360), but he’s also had personal success against Boston Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (4-for-11). Combine those two factors with the Yankees’ high expected run total (5), and Gregorius stands out as one of the top plays at shortstop, regardless of price.

J.J. Hardy, Orioles (2,600): Now here’s a true value option. Hardy has quietly put together an eight-game hitting streak, a stretch that includes three games of double-digit DK points. He’s 8-for-31 with two doubles and a home run in his career against Tampa Bay Rays lefty Matt Moore (5-6, 4.46 ERA). For this sub-3,000 price, he’s worth a look.
