Tyler Ulis sent the Phoenix Suns to the Summer League semifinals with a game-winning 3-pointer from Stephen Curry range.

Tyler Ulis is going about silencing his doubters the right way.

The former SEC Player of the Year who fell down draft boards because of rumors of a hip injury and his diminutive 5-foot-9 height is leading the Phoenix Suns Summer League team deeper into the meaningless Summer League tournament.

Ulis inbounded the ball, stepped in and then hit a 3-pointer from Stephen Curry range to lead the Suns to a one-point victory over the Denver Nuggets and help the Suns advance in the Summer League playoffs.

That is a big-time shot from a big-time player.

Ulis, the 34th overall pick in the draft, is fighting for his place in the league without the guarantee of a contract that comes from being a first-round pick. He certainly seems to be earning it with that kind of a performance and moment. He scored 19 points in the game to send the Suns to the semifinals.

The former Kentucky standout is averaging 15.2 points per game, averaging 6.2 assists per game and shooting 46.2 percent from the floor in five games so far for the Summer League Suns. He has struggled some from beyond the arc so it is good to see him make this shot if he wants to make Phoenix’s roster.

Phoenix advanced to play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday in the semifinals of the NBA Summer League.

This was a big-time shot and moment for the promising prospect. Ulis can certainly play after a stellar career at Kentucky that saw him win SEC Player of the Year last year — over Ben Simmons. Whether he has answered the questions he needs to remains to be seen as Summer League ends and Ulis gets his shot at camp with the Suns.
