Arian Foster, the former star running back for the Houston Texans, will work out for the Miami Dolphins on Monday, and the Detroit Lions later in the week.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Former Houston Texans running back Arian Foster will work out for the Miami Dolphins on Monday, as he tries to restart his NFL career. A four-time Pro Bowler, Foster will then work out for the Detroit Lions later in the week, in hopes of latching on for his eighth NFL season.

The 2015 season was a lost one for Foster, who ruptured his Achilles tendon on October 25, 2015, in a loss to those same Miami Dolphins. Two days later, Foster was placed on injured reserve, effectively ending his season. Prior to his injury, Foster played poorly for the Texans, rushing for only 163 yards in four games.

What Foster did not know is that the injury would end his Texans career, a career in which he became the benchmark for the organization’s running backs. He finished his Texans career with 6,472 yards and 54 rushing touchdowns, both franchise records.

If Foster were to sign with the Dolphins, the organizations would be swapping their starting running backs from last year. Lamar Miller, who started 16 games for the Dolphins in 2015, signed with the Texans this off-season, after rushing for 872 yards and eight touchdowns.

With the departure of Miller, the Dolphins are expected to go with Jay Ajayi as their starting running back to open the 2016 season. In nine appearances as a rookie in 2015, he amassed 187 yards and a touchdown on 49 attempts, averaging 3.8 yards per attempt in the process.
