The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in full force in the middle of their summer schedule with the New Hampshire 301 ahead this weekend, but time is beginning to run out for drivers that wish to make the Chase. With most of the spots locked up, spots are running out to compete for a Sprint Cup Championship.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was long believed to be a lock to get in this year, despite being just 14th in the points, but that could be in jeopardy. Earnhardt Jr. will not be racing on Sunday, which could go a long way in knocking him out of the top-16 drivers overall.
Alex Bowman will be filling in for Earnhardt Jr. and will hopefully keep the car safe and get as many points as possible on the track. Jimmie Johnson will be on the pole for the short race and he will be looking to pick up some momentum after a wreck at Kentucky.
