Brandon Bass agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Clippers already have a playoff-caliber team, and on Saturday, they locked down a veteran forward who will be a nice addition to their bench. The Clippers signed veteran forward Brandon Bass to a one-year deal, and he will make the league minimum according to The Vertical.

Bass, who played the 2015-16 season as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, will not have to change his zip code, despite changing teams. Bass is a resident of Los Angeles, and though he had matching offers from the San Antonio Spurs, as well as the Clippers, he decided to rejoin his old coach in LA.

Clippers coach Doc Rivers was the head coach of the Boston Celtics during some of the better years of his career, and he will be a valuable rotation player for the Clips.

Last season, the 31-year old Bass appeared in 66 games for the Lakers, scoring 7.3 points per game in a little over 20 minutes per contest. A 2005 second-round pick of the New Orleans Pelicans, Bass has played in over 700 games in his NBA career, and will likely be a trusted presence in the Clippers’ locker room this season.

Bass is the second solid front court players the Clippers have nabbed in free agency, as the team plucked Marreese Speights from the Golden State Warriors earlier this month. With an already loaded starting five, the Clippers will head into the 2016-17 season as one of a handful of teams who could challenge the Warriors in the Western Conference.

The Clippers went 53-29 last season, finishing second in the Western Conference during the regular season, but were beaten by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs.
