The ACC is nearing a new network deal with ESPN that will rival the coverage of the SEC and Big Ten

When the ACC signed a big-time deal with ESPN years ago regarding the exclusive coverage and broadcast rights for many of their sporting events, it was one that made big waves throughout the world of college sports. However, the ACC’s deal was soon dwarfed by the deals that the SEC and Big Ten ultimately signed huge network contracts of their own, leaving one of the other Power 5 conferences essentially out in the dark.

The ACC, as you’d expect, aren’t about to be left out in the dark any longer.

According to a report from The News & Observer, the ACC and ESPN are close to a new network deal that would obviously keep the same type of exclusive coverage, but would also mean an ACC Network in the light of the other Power 5 conferences. In addition, the report also states that there would be extra content coming that was described as “over the top.”

This has truly been a long time coming for the ACC. They’ve long had plenty of time to make sure to get the maximum coverage available to them and to make the fans happy and now it’s happening. Perhaps the most exciting part could be the extra content, though that obviously depends on what kind of content that would entail.

Either way, this is a move that the ACC and the schools in the conference have to be just giddy about.
