Identifying the top high salary and value third baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 18 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Nolan Arenado, Rockies (5,500): Just a friendly reminder: Colorado players are going to be ultra-popular across the board in Monday’s contests. But there was no way we couldn’t include Arenado in this space. He’s at home against a struggling left-hander in Tampa Bay’s Drew Smyly (2-10, 5.47 ERA). He’s also hit safely in six of his last seven games. In short, Arenado is the top third baseman on the board Monday. You just won’t be alone in rostering him.

Evan Longoria, Rays (5,000): Longoria enters this road series against Colorado having previously played only six games at Coors Field. Those six games included seven hits (two home runs). Longoria draws a favorable matchup with Rockies lefty-hander Tyler Anderson (1-3, 3.03 ERA). Alternatively, Detroit Tigers third baseman Nick Castellanos is a solid play against Minnesota righty Ricky Nolasco (4-for-14, 2 HRs).

High Value

Ryan Schimpf, Padres (3,500): Schimpf has made the most of his first taste of the major leagues. Since being called up in mid-June, Schimpf has five home runs and 10 RBIs. He’s been particularly hot in July, hitting all five of his homers and raising his average from .103 to .227. The lefty-hitting Schimpf is an interesting GPP play against St. Louis Cardinals righty Mike Leake (6-7, 4.14 ERA).

Alex Rodriguez, Yankees (2,600): “A-Rod” hasn’t done much at the plate since the start of July, going just 3-for-18. But his career numbers against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman (5-for-11, one double, two home runs) make him worthy of GPP consideration at this deeply-discounted price.
