Shortstop

High-Salary Option: Trevor Story-Colorado Rockies (3,900): It’s an easy strategy to play Story every time the Rockies are at home, but it’s also been a strategy that has paid off for most of the season.  Story has a .965 OPS at Coors Field and a .900 OPS against lefties like Drew Smyly who starts tonight for the Rays.  He hasn’t been raking this month (hitting just .206 in July), but Story is always a threat to go yard when playing at elevation.

Mid-Range Option: Aledmys Diaz-St. Louis Cardinals (3,600)Diaz has at least six fantasy points in each of his last nine games even though he was held hitless over the weekend.   He picked up his fourth steal of the season on Sunday and went 0-2 with two walks to raise his OPS to an impressive .912.  Tonight, he and the Cards face Padres’ lefty starter Christian Friedrich and Diaz will look to continue his breakout season for St. Louis. ∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Didi Gregorius-New York Yankees  (2,700): Gregorius is 16-46 (.348) in July after going 2-3 with a double last night.  He’s hitting .299 now on the season, and he has been a quiet contributor for the Yankees all season.

Tonight, he’ll take on Kevin Gausman and the Orioles at Yankee Stadium. Gregorius has made a good play at home all season where he is hitting .309 with an .864 OPS. While he doesn’t have good career numbers against Gausman, I still think he’s a nice option at such an affordable price.

High-Value Option: Adeiny Hechavarria-Miami Marlins (2,500): Hechavarria is in the Miami lineup mostly for his defense, but he has started the second half 4-11 (.364) and has hit safely in four straight dating back to before the break. He is 1-3 with two walks against Phillies’ probably starter Aaron Nola and is producing remarkably better on the road (.292 average, .749 OPS) than at home (.188 average, .477 OPS). Since Miami is away tonight, he makes a solid cheap flier.
