FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 18
High Salary OF
Mike Trout-Los Angeles Angels (4,400): Trout went 1-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored yesterday in the Angels win to close out their series sweep over the White Sox. He’s just 1-9 since the break, but I think he’ll break out of that tonight as the Angels host the Rangers. In his career, Trout is 4-17 against tonight’s starter A.J. Griffin and has hit a pair of home runs against him for a healthy .938 OPS. He also comes into tonight sporting a 1.015 OPS at home this season which he’ll look to improve against Texas this week. ∗∗∗
Mark Trumbo-Baltimore Orioles (4,100): Trout’s former teammate Mark Trumbo is having a huge season with the Orioles and already has slugged 28 home runs on his way to a .910 OPS of his own. He’s in a great matchup to attack tonight in New York as long as the rain holds off. Trumbo is 10-19 against Yankees’ scheduled starter Ivan Nova with three homers and a crazy 1.576 OPS. ∗∗∗∗∗
Stephen Piscotty-St. Louis Cardinals (3,600): Piscotty took the collar on Sunday going 0-4 after collecting hits in seven straight games. He will look to get back in the hit column tonight against the Padres’ and Christian Friedrich. Piscotty is 28-83 (.337) on the season against lefties like Friedrich with a 1.057 OPS. He’s also enjoyed hitting at Busch Stadium this season, so look for him to bounce back tonight and get his average back near .300 even after yesterday’s letdown. ∗∗∗∗
Ryan Rayburn-Colorado Rockies (3,500): Rayburn could be a nice value if he gets the start tonight against lefty Drew Smyly and the Rays at Coors Field. Rayburn connected on a pinch-hit grand slam on Friday night finishing with 29.2 fantasy points even though he didn’t start and followed that up with a 2-4 game on Saturday when he did get a chance to start. Rayburn is one of the few Rockies with experience against Smyly from his time in the American League and is 1-4 with three walks against him in the past. If he gets the start, Rayburn is a boom or bust play for the Rockies. ∗∗
Marcelo Ozuna-Miami Marlins (3,500): Ozuna got the day off yesterday, but there was no reported injuries, so he should be back in the lineup tonight against the Phillies. Although he has slowed down a little in July, he’s still hitting .305 on the year with a healthy .886 OPS. He’s just 1-6 in his career against Aaron Nola, but he went 7-23 against the Phillies in their meetings earlier this season with a pair of homers. Ozuna is a safer play than Rayburn but he doesn’t have Rayburn’s elevated upside. ∗∗∗
