NBA Rumors: Russell Westbrook has given “no indication” he wants out of OKC
By Hunter Cooke
Despite all the rumors saying Russell Westbrook wants to follow Kevin Durant out of Oklahoma City, Westbrook has given “no indication” he wants away from the Thunder.
According to The Oklahoman, Russell Westbrook isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Despite all the rumors that he might be leaving the Thunder for greener pastures, according to unnamed sources, Westbrook has given “no indication” he wants to leave. In fact, sources have described him as wanting to win even more now that Durant has left the Thunder.
Westbrook can be a tad mercurial, so who knows what he’ll want to do after this season is over and his contract is up? If the Thunder have a bad season, it might make him want to leave. It also might make him more fired up about staying and making things right.
If the Thunder have a great season, it might mean that he sees his value, and leaves for somewhere that can pay him superstar money. Or it might mean that he puts his faith in the OKC front office, stays where he is, and pushes for the elusive championship. Westbrook will have plenty of options when his contract is up next year, and it’s unlikely anyone will question his decision.
No one knows what Westbrook will do until he does it. That’s the beauty of his play style and it’s the beauty of his personality. The Thunder are at a huge crossroads right now, and as it stands, Westbrook is ready to lead this team wherever they may go.
