Identifying the top high salary and value outfielder plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 19 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Mookie Betts, Red Sox (5,400): Betts had a quiet series out of the All-Star break, going just 3-for-13 in three games on the road against the New York Yankees. Boston returns home for an interleague series against San Francisco, and that’s good news for Betts, who’s batting .327 at Fenway Park. He’s also hitting .313 against righties this season, making him a strong play against veteran Jake Peavy (5-7, 5.09 ERA).
Mark Trumbo, Orioles (5,000): The major league leader in home runs (28) finished the first half of the season with four homers in four games. After the All-Star break, though, he’s gone homer-less through four games. That could change Tuesday against New York Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (7-6, 5.11 ERA, 19 HRs allowed). Trumbo is 5-for-6 with a pair of doubles in his career against Eovaldi.
High Value
Andrew McCutchen, Pirates (3,400): It has not been a good season for the former National League Most Valuable Player, but there have been encouraging signs so far in July. He’s hitting .275 through 12 games, up from a .202 average in June. He draws a matchup with Milwaukee Brewers righty Junior Guerra (6-2, 3.06 ERA) on Tuesday, but for this low price, he’s worth a shot.
Franklin Gutierrez, Mariners (3,200): We like to sprinkle Gutierrez into the mix anytime he faces a left-handed pitcher. He’s hitting .286 with seven of his nine home runs against lefties this season, so he’s a reasonable GPP play against Chicago White Sox southpaw Jose Quintana (7-8, 3.21 ERA). Gutierrez is 2-for-6 with a double and home run in his career against Quintana.
