Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 19 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Ian Kinsler, Tigers (5,000): The Tigers’ second baseman has simply crushed left-handed pitching this season. Kinsler is hitting .347 with a .594 slugging percentage against southpaws, so his matchup with Minnesota Twins starter Tommy Milone (2-2, 5.23 ERA) was already attractive. Factor in his career numbers against Milone (6-for-19, one HR), and it becomes an easy play.
Jose Altuve, Astros (4,900): Altuve has eight hits over his last four games, a stretch that includes 59 total DraftKings points. Fantasy baseball players are spoiled by how consistently great the diminutive Altuve is every night. He’s a no-brainer option against Oakland Athletics rookie southpaw Dillon Overton (1-1, 11.42 ERA).
High Value
Darwin Barney, Blue Jays (3,400): Anytime you play Barney, it’s in the hopes that the Toronto offense goes wild and he benefits by scoring a few runs. That’s a real possibility Tuesday on the road against Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Godley (2-0, 5.28 ERA). For what it’s worth, Barney has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, so he’s no slouch.
Jed Lowrie, Athletics (2,300): Lowrie shouldn’t be considered anything beyond a cheap GPP play, but his career numbers against Astros left-hander Dallas Keuchel (6-9, 4.80 ERA) make him worth a look. The 32-year-old Lowrie is 9-for-26 (.346) with two doubles against the former American League Cy Young Award winner.
