Do you think you have what it takes to get verified? We’ve got the steps on how you can apply.
Next to the amount of followers you have, we all know the little blue tick is what it’s all about it. Twitter, as one of the biggest social media competitors around, is opening up their application doors to all its users and giving them the opportunity to apply for a verified account. Previously reserved for celebrities and like, the verified badge distinguished legitimate accounts from fake ones.
According to Twitter, they “approve account types maintained by users in music, acting, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.”
In order to apply, here’s what you’ll need to do:
- Make sure your account has a verified phone number, email address, bio, birthday, photo and website. Also, your tweets cannot be private.
- Fill out the application.
- Then wait for their email reply.
Per Twitter’s statement, they’re hoping that “opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience.”
At this point, Twitter allows you to apply every 30 days if your request is denied. But now that the application is open to everybody, expect Twitter to tweak or remove that option altogether.
