Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon suffered a huge scare when he got hit in the head against the Milwaukee Brewers but he stayed in the game.

Pitchers are often helpless against line drives up the middle. They usually manage to barely get out of the way, but they are still basically sitting ducks out there since they are so close to home plate. Jameson Taillon of the Pittsburgh Pirates was not able to get out of the way as a hard line drive by Hernan Perez hit him in the head against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Luckily, it seems Taillon was barely able to get out of the way enough that he didn’t suffer any serious damage. He was able to stay in the game somehow. Major League Baseball has proposed solutions for pitchers, including various forms of protective headgear, but very few pitchers have taken advantage of the offer, citing that the headwear proposed are bulky or not comfortable.

Taillon had a 3.86 ERA in five starts this season entering tonight’s game against the Brewers. He has missed time this season due to injuries. Taillon is quite lucky that he isn’t missing, even more, time.
